About

Kristina Krug has been shooting for advertising and editorial clients for over 10 years.

She has a 2500sf daylight studio minutes from downtown Nashville for local assignments and is available for location shoots worldwide.

Before she became a professional photographer, her passion for photography started with the gift of her grandfather’s Nikon F. But she also fell in love with “problem-solving”, typography, and design. Kristina received a degree in Visual Communications from Northern Illinois University. She worked for two Chicago design firms for two years, before setting out on her own, as a freelance art director and producer for advertising, editorial, and catalog clients. A few years later, she began shooting for some of the same clients.

She moved to Chicago’s north side, immersed herself in the jazz scene, became inspired by the great film art direction and cinematography of Ingmar Bergman, Michelangelo Antonioni, Bernardo Bertolucci, Jim Jarmush, and others. She traveled to Denmark, Germany, Czech Republic, and Finland, before relocating to Nashville in 2000.

Kristina is inspired by an insatiable desire to uncover individual and universal truths and capture them. Though some of her portraits may expose unpleasant realities, they still reveal a tangible sense of compassion, beauty, and hope.

She strives to create photographs that are honest, vivid, memorable, and timeless. And her experience in design and branding has given her a unique advantage, making the collaborative process smooth for art directors and photo editors.

Kristina offers full production services and has a fully digital post-production workflow.

She occasionally shoots all manual “analog” cameras – her Hasselblad and Nikon F – for the organic quality, intuitive creative process, color saturation, grain, tone, warmth, and detail that is eminent in film photography.
